Rural Women Development Centre (RWDC) has been launching “strengthening small Holders Farmers organization for Livestock Value Chain II” in collaboration with Heifer International Nepal in Dang, Salyan and Pyuthan districts since April 15, 2018 to April 14, 2021. This is fourth partnership between Heifer International Nepal and RWDC, both organization has been partnering since 2009 AD. Previous project had launched in Dang to empower the women for economically and socially by the engaging in Self-Help groups. Almost 1217 marginalized, destitute and backward families member were involved in that project, they have empowered economically and prosperity. From this project, most of the women and have gained knowledge for conducting business and operating cooperatives.
The II phase project objective is to enhance the capacity of the cooperatives for improving good governance and sustainability and strengthening small farmers for income generation. In total 11 cooperatives have included with this project in Dang, Salyan and Pyuthan districts. The result of the project are;
- Strengthening farmer organization
- Demand driven supply (volume, quality, consistency) in target value chains
- Market linkages improved
- Value-addition in target value chains increased
- Enabling environment for target value chain improved
