Rural Women Development Center (RWDC), also popular with the name of Gramin Mahila Utthan Kendra in Mid Western Nepal formally celebrated its 26th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee).
The 26th Anniversary was observed among its huge gathering of supports, beneficiaries, and district level stakeholders. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Deputy Mayor of the Ghorahi Sub Metropolis, Sita Sigdel Neupane, who inaugurated the silver jubilee occasion of RWDC at Green valley hotel in December 6.2020.
As many as 130 participants took part in the rare ceremony which had begun at around 3 PM and lasted till 5 PM. Speaking on the occasion, RWDC chairperson Aasmani Chaudhary narrated the history of how RWDC was established under difficult conditions when the society was rife with
traditional and conservative patriarchal norms. She recalled her journey of 26 years which she had started with a single step and burned herself like a candle to give light to more than three hundred thousand rural women in Dang, Salyan, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Banke, and Bardiya districts in terms of literacy awareness, empowerment, health services, child protection, rehabilitation, leadership development, income generation, and good governance. She also thanked all well-wishers and donors including local government bodies, individuals who had contributed to making her dream turn into a reality this day. Speaking during the same program, the Chief Guest Sita Sigdel expressed that she has been much impressed by the ongoing activities launched by RWDC as it has contributed substantially to the promotion of gender equality in society. Similarly, the special guest, Jitendra Nepali, the chairman of the Dang District Coordination Committee, also opined that RWDC’s contributions to society are appreciable and should be replicated by others.

The RWDC project coordinator Nabin Chaudhary presented the slide presentation on the brief history and activities of RWDC with photographs in brief, while Mina Giri delivered the welcome speech and Bhim Kanta Chaudhary was the master of the ceremony. RWDC internal auditor Nep Bahadur Chaudhary also narrated his personal story of how he was hired by RWDC as a marketing assistant at the beginning and how he had risen to the post of branch manager and central internal auditor for RWDC run Microfinance program to date. The Anniversary had ended with the concluding remarks of RWDC chairperson Aasmani Chaudhary.
